ProTecBird equips 11 additional wind farms with anti-collision systems
The strong demand began immediately after the certification of the AVES Wind® AKS system by the german Environmental Agency of Schleswig-Holstein in August 2024. The innovative system combines high-resolution, movable cameras with AI-powered tracking software. It now reliably detects 14 protected bird species in real time, tracks their flight paths in three dimensions, and automatically initiates a temporary curtailment of the turbine in case of collision risk. This ensures that collisions are effectively avoided without unnecessarily reducing energy yield.
“The feedback from our customers clearly shows that with AVES Wind® AKS we have hit the mark in the industry,” says Ingolf Keba, CFO of ProTecBird. “In particular, the high detection accuracy, the very low number of false triggers, and the seamless integration into existing infrastructure are consistently emphasized.”
Several customers have already commissioned follow-up projects, and additional orders have been placed for the coming year. ProTecBird expects to equip at least 15 more wind farms with AVES Wind® AKS in 2026.
